Why do some planes have no row 13? It's superstition. Many people see 13 as unlucky, so many airlines skip it, the same way some hotels skip the 13th floor. Lufthansa also leaves out row 17, a number considered unlucky in Italy: rearrange the Roman numeral XVII and you get VIXI, Latin for "my life is over." Not every airline cares: Delta has a row 13 on some jets. So the plane is the same; only the numbers change, for comfort.
