About This Video
What is the most important part of a helicopter? It might just be the smallest one.
If a helicopter loses that tiny spinning rotor on its tail, it faces immediate disaster. Because the main engine creates massive torque, the aircraft’s body naturally wants to violently spin in the opposite direction. The tail rotor’s only job is to push sideways against that force, creating "Anti-Torque" and keeping the aircraft flying straight.
By stepping on the pedals in the cockpit, pilots can increase or decrease this sideways push, allowing them to spin the helicopter on a dime and point the nose wherever they want.
Without it, you are just a falling, spinning top. Physics always demands balance.
